From the release of version 23.01, SuperNova is now available in three licence types. This web page provides an overview of each licence type and further information to help ensure your customers have the right licence for their needs.

Professional Licence

  • Single or multi-users - licenced to a business or educational institution. 
  • Unlock any SuperNova Edition (including Dolphin ScreenReader).
  • Transferable to different team members.
  • Includes MSI distribution to local networks.
  • Discounts for education institutions.

SuperNova Enterprise icon

Enterprise licence

  • Single or multi-users - licenced to a business. 
  • Unlock any SuperNova edition (including Dolphin ScreenReader).
  • Transferable to different team members.
  • Includes MSI distribution to local networks.
  • Install to remote and virtual environments.
  • Verified as Citrix Ready.
  • Flexible licence for unattended installation.

 

The new SuperNova Professional and Enterprise licences enable you to fully support customers that are committed to delivering Diversity, Equality, Inclusion & Accessibility (DEI&A) throughout their organisation. Both Professional and Enterprise licences:

  • Are licenced to an organisation, by user. This means your customers can deliver accessibility on as many workstations or servers as their team members need and re-deploy as needed.
  • Are transferable, so the licence can be reassigned to a different team member as needed. 
  • Can be used to unlock any edition in the SuperNova range. This means your customers can deliver accessibility for team members with any level of vision impairment - from colour vision deficiency to severe sight impairment.
  • Includes access to SuperNova MSI packages for easy distribution across your customer's organisation or estate.

 

 

FAQs - Guidance on which licence to provide your customers

What is the difference between SuperNova Editions and SuperNova Licences?

SuperNova Editions:

SuperNova is available in three Editions - Magnifier, Magnifier and Speech, and Magnifier and Screen Reader. These three editions provide a different level of accessibility features depending on the end user's needs.

SuperNova Licences:

SuperNova Licences is determined by who SuperNova is licenced to:

  • A Personal licence is licenced to an individual user. When a customer purchases a Personal licence, they own the licence themselves and can choose which SuperNova Edition to buy.  
  • A Professional or Enterprise licence is licenced to a business or education institution. When an organisation purchases a Professional or Enterprise licence, the business owns the licence. They can choose which team members to make SuperNova available for and are able to unlock ANY edition in the SuperNova range (including Dolphin ScreenReader) to meet their team member's needs.

 

I have existing customers that are using a specific edition of SuperNova (e.g. Magnifier) in the workplace. Should they switch over to using SuperNova Professional?

If SuperNova is licenced to an individual team member (and you expect them to take their software with them if they leave their employment), your customer can continue to use a Personal licence of their chosen SuperNova Edition. 

A customer should be directed to a Professional or Enterprise licence where SuperNova is licenced to the business. Choose a Professional or Enterprise licence if any of the following apply:

  • The software licence is considered a company asset (rather than a personal licence for the team member).
  • The team member needs to access multiple devices or servers at work.
  • The team member's accessibility needs are likely to change (e.g. deteriorating sight condition).
  • The organisation's accessibility policy applies to all devices. 

As SuperNova Professional was introduced with version 23, your customer’s licence should be reviewed when they purchase an upgrade to v23 or later.

My customer needs SuperNova Magnifier to use at work, but does not want to have to pay for a Professional licence.

A customer only has to pay for a Professional licence where SuperNova is licenced to the business. If SuperNova is licenced to the individual team member (i.e. the licence belongs to the individual), they are able to continue using a Personal licence of their chosen SuperNova Edition.

Please also be aware that our Professional licence provides significantly better value than the equivalent licences provided by alternative magnification solutions. For example, a licence of Fusion Professional with or without the next two upgrades is approximately 20%* more expensive than an equivalent licence of SuperNova Professional (*UK price check from May 2024). 

 

I have a school interested in a multi-user licence, but they do not have the budget for SuperNova Professional.

My customer is interested in SuperNova USB. Which licence do they need?

SuperNova USB is available as an add-on to any software purchase of SuperNova. It is available for Personal, Professional and Enterprise licences of SuperNova. 

  • If your customer requires a Personal licence, their USB add-on will match their chosen SuperNova Edition.  
  • If your customer requires a Professional or Enterprise licence, their USB add-on will be for the Magnifier and Screen Reader edition of SuperNova. This will enable your customer to customise SuperNova for the accessibility they need.

Can SuperNova Professional or SuperNova Enterprise be used by team members at home?

SuperNova Professional and SuperNova Enterprise can be used for working from home and installed on devices belonging to the organisation. For installation on personal devices, a personal licence should be purchased. 

For SuperNova Enterprise offers including home licences, please talk to your Dolphin account manager.
